Did you know...?

Grooming does more than keep your Maltese beautiful, it also keeps them healthier (and happier!) Regular and careful grooming keeps their coats free of dirt, burrs, twigs and other foreign matter and keeps the coat from matting so densely that no air can reach the skin. The ideal time to accustom a long-haired (show coat) Maltese to grooming is when he or she is young. This early attention will help ensure that, as your Maltese matures and its grooming requires more time, he or she will stand quietly and enjoy the attention.

The Breeding Environment for Anna's Angels

All my angels are raised in my own home -- no kennels -- EVER! No pet stores! Your Maltese puppy will come from a loving, safe and health atmosphere. I strive to keep the birthing environment clean for both the mom's sake, and her babies.

The birthing bed where my angels are born is a special place -- it used to be my bed. The bed is part of my bedroom set from Thailand, and it is set up in my bedroom so that I can be close to mom and babies during the critical time of birth and shortly thereafter. It is not uncommon for me to rise throughout the night every 2 hours to dropper-feed newborn puppies if they require it to keep them alive. After the critical stage of three weeks has ended, the puppies are still close by. Just like human babies, I keep the tiny bits of life close to me at all times, feeding and caring for them until they make it through the critical period of new life. Between the efforts of the new moms and myself, I can proudly say that I've never lost a litter of puppies -- EVER!

Once any of my females achieve pregnancy, they get regular veterinary examinations, receive sonograms (images produced by ultrasound) to make sure the puppies are developing normally, and start their nutritional "new-mom" nutritional regimen.

To ensure that each litter of puppies is healthy and has a good start on a long and happy life, while their mother is pregnant, she receives a strict regimen of vitamins, minerals and supplements, along with a healthy diet. (My females always receive vitamins, minerals, and supplement, even when they are not pregnant -- but while carrying a litter, the females get additional nutritional supplements to aid in keeping their health at maximum, and to help ensure an easier delivery.) I do not over-breed my females, nor do I breed them too early in life.

After the litter is born, the puppies also receive nutritional supplements, in addition the vitamins and minerals they are receiving in their mother's milk. They receive yogurt, Chinese tea, Puppy Bee Pollen, Shark's Liver Oil, and vitamins.

I put quite a bit of time, effort, and expense into making sure that my mom angels and their little ones are healthy and ready for their new lives with their adoptive parents.
